The retro- photography is back!

Did you notice that everybody these days is so into analogue photography? Social networks are full of photos that bring you back to the good old days of kindergarten or first grade. It’s actually a faux pas to upload ordinary digital shot 😉

Have everybody gone mad and run around with the old fashion cameras? The answer is not really. The nostalgia for analogue photography caught up with us via smart phones and various apps that help people to capture the unique effect of film, yet in digital realm.

I’m not going to lecture here on different apps however. There are tons of websites that will do that for you and it’s not worth to write it all over again. If you are a total beginner however, you may want to try with those two: Instagram and Hipstamatic. See which one is more suitable for you, download them via iTunes and start snapping away. That if you have a smart phone.

Myself, I am a fan of Polaroid cameras and for my digital nostalgia I use software that you can install on your computer and play with the photographs via a random effect. True, less control that Instagram but more fun and much closer to the real Polaroid camera. If you like the photos that illustrate this entry or would try your luck at the digital Polaroid making please go to Poladroid and download yourself a copy of the program. It is extremely user-friendly (you drag the photo to the camera on the desktop and it will “develop” them for you). Also like a true Polaroid camera it will accept a batch of 10, after that you will have to re-run the application (or “change the cartridge”).

I hope you liked this entry. I run off to take care of the laundry, cooking and general household duties.
I will catch ya laters,
Malicia D.
