Aloha!

As promised, we are posting a second part of our report from Earth Garden. This time we would like to tell you about our visitors.

Over two days we had a pleasure of meeting some exceptional folks and had countless conversations with people from all places and walks of life: art students, comic lovers, professional and established artists, activists, tourists from The UK, Thailand, US and Germany…to name a few.

Some our guests came to see the tree before we even set up the installation properly. By 11 (so just two hours after we arrived in Ta`Qali) we had already comments in the guestbook and tons of photos taken. Impressive!

But it was around the midday when our tree became an ultimate chill out zone. People decided to shelter themselves from the sun and started to camp under the tree. We wanted to count how many people chose to do so, but we lost the count quite quickly. It must have been a large number of visitors. Some just stayed for a moment and enjoyed their lunch; some others brought pillows and remained all afternoon. Some were sleeping under the tree for hours. And we even had a group of German tourists who brought musical instruments and played their tam-tams until the evening hours!

The tree proved to be popular during the evening as well. We had dancers performing under the tree at dusk and people sitting under it when attending Tribali jam on the near by stage.

On Sunday morning we had to re-arrange our tree because it was (like the rest of the art area) ransacked and some of our artworks were stolen. But that didn’t stop people from coming. Early Sunday morning was a peaceful and heartwarming experience. We have been discussing art, politics and football with English artists and listened to some really good blues.

We also had taken some photos with our friends from Malta Comic-Con and Friends of The Earth. Some passers- by also joined us for a series of fun photos!

At the end of this report, we would like to share with you some of the comments that we have received in our guestbook. We find them pretty amazing and would like to thank those who signed it and visited us during the two day exhibition.

You folks made us proud!
Much love,
Mal& Rita
