Hello dear readers!
It’s hard to imagine, but a whole year has passed since Gostra- man has taken the virtual world by storm! So much has happened since then – Mr Daniel Caruana has seen his face published in the most popular newspapers in every corner of our globe, has been featured on BBC News, radio talk shows, various TV programs and in a corporate calendar. The picture taken on 25th of August 2013 has become a legend – in the future Darrin Zammit Lupi’s picture will be exhibited as one of the most iconic images of this decade. And Mr Caruana’s children and grandchildren will be remembering how proud he was feeling on that day.
If you’d like to see the international coverage for the Gostra competition from last year, please see the link below. It is still one of our most popular blog entries written and literally thousands of people have stopped by to look at the gathered screenshots:
For his contribution to promotion of Malta on the international scene, Mr Caruana should receive the National Order of Merit – the highest decoration of the Republic. Not only has he popularized the oldest sport in the Mediterranean, but also brought the attention to the smallest state in the European Union. We have spoken to many visitors in Malta and in the UK – some especially booked their holidays to see the Gostra competition – this is the power of one single shot!
Twelve months later, the Gostra pictures are striking again. Darrin Zammit Lupi has been covering the competition this year as well, and the international press have picked up his pictures straight away. Here we go: from Europe to China, from The Middle East to Australia – Gostra 2014 has gone viral all over again.
Should we be surprised? Not at all – great quality will always be appreciated.
Here is the collection of screens we have come across this year. We have skipped many others as it is impossible to collect everything – but please enjoy this small selection!
