Who says dreams do not come true? We first learnt about Crae Wolf about 3 years ago when she was releasing music as a drill/hip-hop/Rn’B artist. Back then, we thought it was such a shame we could not really cover her on Indieterria as our blog is dedicated to the heavier sounds: mostly alternative, indie, rock and metal genres. Skip to 2025 and Crae Wolf is now an established alternative creator blending drill with rock, metal, emo, metal-core, Afrobeats and gothtrap. With nearly million streams on streaming services, 55k monthly listeners on both sides of the Atlantic and playing sold out shows with Delilah Bon, Crae Wolf is gonna be the next big thing in 2026. And we are extremely excited to finally be able to do a proper review of her newest single – “Mouth”.
Official bio: MOBO-Certified artist Crae Wolf, music exists where Rock & Fantasy meets Drill. The Gothic Rapper welcomes you to her sonic universe of “Baddie Metal Core”. The she-wolf draws from a diverse range of influences to create a blazing alternative Nu Metal vibe. Effortlessly combining English with French, her musicality is unmatched. A true cinematic experience. The East London Rockstar has gained a reputation for her bold fashion and electric performances that leave you enchanted. Why blend, when you can stand out?
Make it make sense dear readers cause the math ain’t mathin’. We are always told that numbers matter in the music business. So why in the name of all En Vogue singles and diamond records they have, isn’t Crae Wolf signed yet? She has nearly 1,3 million likes on Tiktok. 114K followers on Instagram alone. Additional 113k on Facebook and 6k subscribers on YouTube – dream numbers for all bands we know! With those achievements, she should not only be signed to a major, but already on her second album and touring the US as a headliner. Crae Wolf has a resume, few independent artists can boast to possess: a sold out Glastonbury 2022 performance, a sold out ComiCon performance, being chosen to participate in SXSW in Austin, Texas in 2024 as one of the official BBC Introducing showcase and taking part in SXSW London this year. She is also a recipient of several grants and awards. Let’s not forget multiple national airplays from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 and Radio X.
Crae Wolf is a self titled Queen of Flow. Inspired by anime, manga and alternative Harajuku culture, she created her own unique fashion style that’s immediately recognizable. She likes learning languages, she uses French, English, Spanish and Korean in her songs. And with her truly rare take on metal core and nu-metal, all A&R’s should be outbidding themselves trying to secure her for their labels.
The thing is, this is not what’s been happening in the last few years. Instead of concentrating on fantastic artists we have on the independent circuit, labels are signing industry plants, mostly rich, white kids. The music they put out is not only boring but mostly forgettable, devoid of feelings and any artistic merit. And artists of colour, from minority backgrounds and working class, are slowly being removed from arts all together.
Despite everything, musicians such as Crae Wolf are doing very well for themselves. They produce some of the best alternative music these days, tour, record and sell out gigs. Crae Wolf’s latest song “Mouth” was described as Rihanna meeting As December Falls with influences from Evanescence, Paramour and Nova Twins.

“Mouth” stands at just 2 minutes and 45 seconds but punches like a heavyweight boxing champion. It starts with a signature wolf howl, kind of like Crae Wolf’s battle cry and heavy guitars. The intro is short and sweet and repeated vocals come thundering in like Muhammad Ali’s famous left hook 20 seconds into the track. The howling is not only a direct reference to the She Wolf persona Crae Wolf embodies on stage but also a bow towards the Portuguese gothic metal legends Moonspell, the godfathers of fantasy (or dark fantasy) metal. Crae Wolf’s scenic image may be inspired by comics and fantasy but “Mouth” deals with more prosaic and (every day) themes – respect towards women, treating them with kindness, empathy and civility. “Keep my name out of your mouth” warns Crae Wolf and proceeds to give a sermon worthy of Queen Latifah in “U.N.I.T.Y”. I absolutely love the energy of Megan Thee Stallion or Cardi B we know from hip hop inserted into British heavy metal. If ALT BLK ERA are going into industrial/techno with their new material, Crae Wolf takes us into completely new metal regions introducing drill and Afrobeats. I can only imagine what Crae Wolf and ALT BLK ERA would create if they ever decided to collaborate together – maybe a portal to Spira would open? Who knows?”Mouth” is fast, uncompromising, rhythmic and addictive like salt to a Twi’lek. You hear it once, you will be singing the song for the next two weeks. Crae Wolf is phenomenal and if she plays close to you in 2026, you are ordered to go and see her live.
“Mouth” is a true gem of a song – highly recommended.
