We hope you like being afraid. Today, on the last day of October, we have something extraordinary to show you. Our favourite metal music artist, Jade The Nightmare, is back with her newest, boldest and strangest offering yet called “Hellmouth”. The single originally was released over a month ago but we thought that today will be the best time to write about it – it’s Halloween, the time where the spiritual world is the closest to our physical realm, if you believe the old tales. Whatever makes 31st of October the most enchanting and mysterious time of the year, it works very well. If you are trick or treating tonight, you may want to have this song on your playlist with you. It’s absolutely spellbinding, slow, rhythmic and groovy in a spooky way.

Official song info: Discover the captivating journey of “Hellmouth” a mesmerizing track that delves into the intriguing concept of allure turning into anguish. With hauntingly beautiful melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, this song takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. As the music unfolds, it mirrors the experience of being drawn to something seemingly wonderful, only to unravel the hidden complexities that lie beneath the surface.
Jade The Nightmare has been appearing on our blog regularly for over a year now. This extremely versatile and talented lady can do no wrong. Every single she releases is brilliant, adventurous, groundbreaking and highly original. We very rarely give so many compliments in one sentence, but what Jade does is absolutely first class. She is one of the most innovative, fearless musical creators we have ever met – and she doesn’t give a hoot what others think of her music. Jade mixes rock, rap, hard core, industrial, black metal and gore into such a brilliant concoction that we are very often left with our mouths hanging open.
“Hellmouth” shows a completely different side to Jade. While her previous singles were brutal, loud sonic carnages that gave Cannibal Corpse run for their money, this time she is showcasing her gentler, softer incarnation. It’s almost full circle for her as an artist; she started as a rapper and rap plays a huge part in her new single. If I was to quickly summarize the track, it would be Cardi B meets Massive Attack x Tricky and remixed by Nine Inch Nails. You will find heavy guitars, trip hop beats, distorted synthesizers and pulsing bass, everything nicely cooked in a signature Pitch Shifter-esque industrial techno sauce. Plus, there is one lovely long growl added extra. Free of charge.

Jade is rapping so fast that words are flying out of her like bullets from GAU-8 Gatling gun, apparently the fastest gun in the world. I always admired the skills needed in this genre of music, but Jade is on a higher level of consciousness here. Her vocals, timing, rhythm and pronunciation are flawless. I don’t know what level of mastery it is but probably the equivalent of 9th dan black belt in martial arts. “Hellmouth” may be slower, more electronic, more subdued, more tripping but Jade can still kick your ass just with her words. Listen to the lyrics as well, she is a fantastic lyricist too, smart and very descriptive. This adds to the dark, mysterious feel of the song. You will have to listen to it a couple of times to fully appreciate it, but believe me, it’s worth having this track on repeat. I have been listening to it for more than two hours and I keep discovering new things every time. I love the deep, layered musical construction of this song. It unfolds like a book, each beat is like a new page, each scratch and loop offer new experiences.
“Hellmouth” may not be everyone’s cup of tea but those who appreciate originality and eclectic sounds should be delighted. I’m absolutely in love. Now, since my dream collaboration happened this month (Delilah Bon feat ALT BLK ERA) maybe I can ask for a new one? Jade The Nightmare x Zeal and Ardor anybody? Hey, I know what I want for Christmas now!
Happy Halloween!
